The essay will firstly describe the multi-store model with several studies including Baddeley (1966) Peterson and Peterson (1959) and then a brief description of the levels of processing model with Craik and Tulving’s(1971) and Tyler et al (1979) studies then will end with an evaluation of both models.Evaluation: Baddeley’s research into coding and the studies into capacity and duration support the assumptions of the MSM. The case of KF weakens the MSM. KF suffered from amnesia, and was able to recall visual information without difficulty, but had problems recalling verbally presented information.
Baddeley et al did a study on where the episodic buffer located within the anatomy of the brain. Baddeley’s initial hunch was that the episodic buffer was located in the hippocampus, but recent studies with an amnestic individual (John) with severe hippocampal damage has shown that tasks requiring the episodic buffer were unimpaired in this individual.
