Call for submissions is now open! The British Society for the History of Mathematics is pleased to invite submissions for its 2020 undergraduate essay prize. The essay may be on any topic within the history of mathematics and should be no more than 2500 words in length (excluding references). The competition is open to any person who is enrolled as an undergraduate in a UK or Irish university.The winners of the second Merton College Undergraduate Essay Prize have been announced, and once again the judges have included a runner-up as well. Winner of this year's first-year prize was English student Patrick Naylor, whose essay was entitled “'You are what you eat': codes of consumption in spheres of Anglo-Saxon experience”. Patrick explains how he landed on this topic: “This.The Philosophy Essay Prize is open to Year 12 or Lower 6th students. The aim of the Prize is to encourage able sixth formers to pursue their interest in Philosophy, with the hope that they will be encouraged to read this or related subjects at University.
Undergraduate Essay Prize. The SSHM Undergraduate Prize Competition awarded prizes for the best unpublished original research essays in the social history of medicine, from two groups of undergraduate students: humanities and social science students; and medical, healthcare and allied science students.Society for Reproduction and Fertility Stewart Rhind Science Writing Prize. Open to: Undergraduates. Open to any undergraduate studying in the UK or Ireland, the essay must be about an aspect of reproductive biology and will be assessed on scientific content, style and topicality.
The Society awards an annual prize for an essay in English or French, of fewer than 6000 words, on any subject within the scope of French studies. The award will be for outstanding academic merit at postgraduate level, and the judges will be a subcommittee of the Trustees of the Society.
