Bacons Rebellion In 1676 an uprising of colonists, known as Bacon's Rebellion occurred in Virginia. The two main people in Bacon's Rebellion were relations, (cousins by marriage.) Governor William Berkeley was governor of Virginia in the 1640' s, (Gillon and Matson pg 75.).

The rebellion was led by Nathaniel Bacon, who was supported by the residents of Virginia. The rebellion was against William Berkeley, who was the Governor. Their policy was based on the political challenges in the western frontier.
